A scene is a negotiated interaction between two or more people, usually involving S&M. Depending on many factors, the negotiations may be very short and broad or they can be very long and detailed.
Factors that might affect the level of negotiation include how well the Top(s) and bottom(s) know each other, the current mood of the people involved, the complexity of the desired scene, the risk-level of the desired scene, etc.
In some cases, such as in a CNC dynamic, no explicit negotiation may occur at all prior to a scene.
