Edge play is any play that is considered very risky, either physically or emotionally. It is one of the murkier terms used within the scene, because everyone’s assessment of risk is different. For some, any play at all with a knife might be considered edge play. For others, it might only be considered edge play if cutting is involved.
Extreme humiliation, degradation, and orgasm control are also often considered edge play because of the emotional risks of these types of play.
