What Is…After Care?

This is the time after a scene when the people involved “come down” from the scene.  There is NO one-size-fits all form of after care.  A lot of people love to snuggle.  Some people want to have sex.  Some people even like to continue with some lighter pain play/objectification.  (“Some people” may or may not be me. Ahem.)  And there are some people who don’t like any direct interaction at all and simply need to be alone to process.

After care is typically something that is part of scene negotiations, so that if the people involved don’t have matching needs, they can make sure their needs still get met.  For example, if one of the people is the “I need to be alone” type, and the other is the “I need to snuggle” type, the latter person can arrange to have someone else meet their snuggling needs.
